Fellow Americans, Hello, my name is Shane Dazen. I am a man of humble beginnings. I grew up in the suburbs of South Park to two religious parents. Going to a catholic school for 8 years allowed me to understand that people are not without faults. Passion is what allows us to overcome those faults and be able to rise above them. Ladies and gentlemen, I am a man with a passion, a passion to drive our country and its citizens forward. To do this, however, our country and myself included must admit our mistakes and strive to be better versions of ourselves. My image as a candidate is to use our shortcomings as motivation to our future success.
There are several key issues floating around this election that I would like to personally address. One of these issues is the legalization of marijuana. There has been rising support for the legalization since polls were released in the 1970’s. According to the latest Gallup Poll, about 44% of our population believes legalizing marijuana would not have an adverse affect on our society. Conversely, a poll taken by my constituents revealed that 83% believed legalizing marijuana would be negative for a country trying to get back on its feet. I take these two very diverse opinions as a challenge that I will strive to overcome. Compromises can be made to achieve this. Terminally ill patients as well as sickly citizens should be allowed medical marijuana. Though I do not necessarily agree with the notion that marijuana should be legalized, I would be open to more suggestions on how to affectively attack this growing issue.
Additionally, I would like to challenge President Obama and his idea that a national healthcare bill will help our country. A country that is financially challenged should not force a bill that will cripple our future generations for decades to come. Before there was talk of national healthcare, our country had the most stable and most effective healthcare plan in the world. I am willing to accept change, but not by ruining the country’s future citizens. I am a traditionalist that believes that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Our country needs to stop trying to change all the time and revert to its roots.
Finally, I want to come out and personally put down the idea of global warming. I am not afraid to listen to people’s opinions on the subject but to suggest man is solely to blame for the supposed melting of our planets solar ice caps is poposterous. Within the last 10 years, studies have actually shown that our planet is actually in a cooling trend. Our country needs to stop delving into our funds to spend money on a hoax and set an example for the rest of the world to follow. America is a great world power and because of this, many of our allies make accept our proposition. When there are times of strife, kick the door down and come through on top. I will be there waiting for you. Jesus and Tacos. -Shane Dazen
